Frog Interventions

One of my favorite manipulative to use are frogs! There are so many different types of frog manipulative to use or create with different textures and materials. Currently I use some smaller bathtub toy frogs and also some die-cut laminated frogs. Take a look below at all the ways to use frogs including some of my own original songs!

5 Speckled Frogs

This interventions is the GOAT (greatest of all time). Timeless and oh so fun this intervention can be adapted in so many ways. Use frog manipulative OR have your kiddos be the frogs themselves. You could use all one color/type of frog or use rainbow colored or different frogs to work on receptive ID skills. Put numbers or letters on your frogs for further identification skill work.

 There are so many different ways to use this song. Are your kiddos jumping into a circle, throwing their frogs into a drum or maybe onto a giant lilypad? Are you using a felt board for a one on one session?

Poison Frog

Frog Song (Body ID, following directions, sequencing)

I made this song the other day, and have already used it with a few groups and the kids love it. The more repetitions we do the more the kids get involved during the song. This song works on body part identification, following directions and sequencing as well as word and sound production. Here are the lyrics:

One day I saw a little frog

it was sitting on a little log

and then it

Hop, hop, hop, hopped

Hopped onto my (Insert area of body)

And then it looked around.. Hmmm... Hmmm

and then it danced around... Lalalalalala

and then it made a sound... ribbit..ribbit

and then it hopped away... Goodbye

{repeat from beginning w/ new body part}

Instead of body parts you could use this song to work on prepositions like jumping behind, on, next to, etc.
